2025 Maryland travel guide counting down to Thanksgiving

CHASE THE CHAOS AIRPORT, MY MOM AND MY SISTERS. I’M HEADED TO CHICAGO TO SEE THEM, SO JUST EXTRA TIME WITH THE FAMILY FOR THE HOLIDAY. PASSENGERS ARRIVED TO FIND GOOD NEWS ALL OVER THE DEPARTURES AND ARRIVALS BOARDS AT BWI. MOST FLIGHTS WERE TAKING OFF ON TIME OR LANDING EARLIER THAN SCHEDULED. A BIG RELIEF FOR SOME THANKSGIVING TRAVELERS WHO SAID THEY’VE BEEN NERVOUS DURING THE RECENT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF ANXIOUS MOMENTS. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY FLIGHT BEING CANCELED, AND SO. SO YEAH, IT’S NICE TO SEE THAT EVERYTHING IS MOVING SMOOTHLY TODAY. RELIEVED THAT I CAN GET ON AN AIRPLANE AND NOT HAVE TO DRIVE TO KANSAS CITY. YES, BY NOON ON TUESDAY, THE ROADS TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT WERE SOME OF THE BUSIEST WE ENCOUNTERED. WE’RE JUST HEADING TO THE AIRPORT TO FLY ABROAD BY EARLY AFTERNOON, IT SEEMED A TRAVELERS TAKE ON THEIR TRIP. SO FAR DEPENDED ON THE DIRECTION THEY WERE COMING FROM. IT’S BEEN A LOT OF TRAFFIC. IT REALLY HAS. LIKE THERE’S BEEN ACCIDENTS, LIKE EVERY LIKE COUPLE MILES UP THE ROAD. THOSE DRIVING DOWN 95 SOUTH FROM AS FAR NORTH AS NEW ENGLAND CALLED THEIR TRIP SO FAR, SURPRISINGLY SMOOTH. THEY’VE BEEN GREAT. THEY’VE BEEN SMOOTH. I’VE BEEN UP TO ABERDEEN AND BACK TO WASHINGTON, D.C., AND IT WAS GOOD THIS MORNING AND IT’S GOOD ON THE WAY BACK. IF YOU’RE TAKING THE WHEEL THIS WEEK, A REMINDER TO KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, BECAUSE RESEARCH SHOWS OTHER DRIVERS MAY NOT BE. ACCORDING TO CAMBRIDGE MOBILE TELEMATICS, THANKSGIVING DAY HAS MORE DISTRACTED DRIVERS THAN ANY OTHER DAY OF THE YEAR, EXCEPT CHRISTMAS, 10.8% MORE THAN A REGULAR THURSDAY, WITH DRIVERS SPENDING MORE THAN TWO MINUTES EACH HOUR INTERACTING WITH THEIR PHONES. RESEARCHERS FOUND THE TOP THREE APPS DRIVERS USE WHILE DRIVING GOOGLE WAS NUMBER ONE, FOLLOWED BY THE PHONE’S CAMERA, WITH FACEBOOK IN THIRD. BACK OUT HERE LIVE AND WE’RE ON 2.16 HEADING TOWARD A 29. WE’RE GOING TO CHECK OUT 29 NORTH FOR YOU NEXT. WE HEARD AS WE WERE DRIVING, YOU CAN HEAR THAT THERE’S PONDING ON THE ROAD. YOU CAN HEAR THE RAIN HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS THE HEAVIEST. IT’S RAINED ALL DAY. IT HAS GONE. STARTED WITH A LITTLE SPRINKLE, GOT HEAVY AND WANED AT TIMES, BUT NOW IT’S A PRETTY STEADY RAIN AND WE HAVE NOTICED PONDING ON THE ROADWAYS AND IN THE IN THE EXTERIOR LANES, THE SHOULDERS OF THE ROAD AS WELL. AND IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING, AFTER FACEBOOK NUMBER FOUR, MOST USED APP DISTRACTED DRIVERS USE ALL DRIVING GMAIL AND THEN FACEBOOK MESSENGER IN SIX FACETIME. APPARENTLY THIS RESEARCH FIRM FOUND YOUNGER DRIVERS USED FACETIME MORE THAN OLDER DRIVERS DID WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING, AND THEY ALSO FOUND DISTRACTED DRIVING. DISTRACTED DRIVING ALSO SPIKES. ON THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING AND THE DAY AFTER REPORTING FROM LI
