Forbes Travel Guide awards five stars to The Broadmoor hotel | Business

The Broadmoor remains on a streak that no other hotel has matched.
The Forbes Travel Guide on Wednesday gave its top score of five stars to the resort on Colorado Springs’ southwest side for the 65th consecutive year as part of its 2025 ratings of hotels, restaurants, spas and cruise ships.
It’s the longest stretch of five-star ratings for any hotel worldwide, which have been given out annually since 1958 by Forbes and its predecessor publications. This year’s ratings covered more than 2,100 properties in 90 countries, according to a news release.
The Broadmoor was one of three Colorado hotels to receive five stars; the others were the Little Nell in Aspen — which received Forbes’ top rating for the 30th straight year — and the Madeline Hotel and Residences in Telluride, now a five-star winner for four straight years.
Forbes also gave five stars to The Broadmoor’s spa; it was only the spa in the state to receive the travel publication’s top rating.
The Broadmoor has more than 780 rooms, golf courses, tennis courts, pools, restaurants and other amenities. Since it opened in 1918, the luxury resort has played host to presidents, heads of state, famous athletes and celebrities. It’s owned by the Denver-based Anschutz Corp., whose Clarity Media Group also owns The Gazette.
The Forbes Travel Guide bills itself as the only independent global rating system for luxury hotels, ocean cruises, restaurants and spas.
Its “highly trained inspectors,” according to Forbes, visit every property rated and evaluate “up to 900 objective criteria.” Inspectors stay a minimum of two nights to determine hotel ratings. In addition to five stars, the travel guide gives out four star-ratings and makes recommendations on other properties.
“Our anonymous inspectors evaluate hundreds of exacting standards, with an emphasis on exceptional service, to help discerning travelers select the world’s best experiences,” Forbes said in the news release announcing its 2025 awards. “The only way to get a five-star, four-star or recommended rating is by earning it through our exacting inspection process.”
Other Colorado highlights in this year’s Forbes Travel Guide ratings include:
• Five hotel properties received four stars: the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons hotels in Denver; the St. Regis Aspen Resort in Aspen; the St. Julien Hotel & Spa in Boulder; and the Four Seasons Resort and Residences in Vail.
• Forbes also recommended four hotels: the Hotel Jerome, Auberge Resorts Collection in Aspen; the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch in Avon; the Gateway Canyons Resort in Gateway; and the Inn at Lost Creek in Telluride.
• Four stars were given to spas at the Ritz-Carlton in Denver and the Four Seasons Resort and Residences in Vail.
• No restaurants in Colorado received five stars. Four-star winners were The Broadmoor’s Summit and Element 47 at the Little Nell in Aspen. Forbes also recommended two restaurants: WYLD at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch in Avon and the Edge Restaurant & Bar at the Four Seasons in Denver.
