Kayak, Bike & Brew expands in Traverse City with 4 cool tours

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Visitors to Traverse City know that getting on the water and biking the in-city trails are great ways to see downtown. The area’s popular Kayak, Bike & Brew tours have become a cool way to do both. And this year, the offerings have expanded to include four adventures, each with a different itinerary.

Think of these “KaBrew” tours as a pub crawl that mixes in-town biking with a stretch of paddling on the Boardman River. They are highly social events, they propel you into some of downtown’s hot spots and give you a great feel for the area. Each ticketed tour lasts about four hours.

“Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned explorer, each tour provides a unique way to experience the natural beauty of Traverse City while enjoying the area’s best craft beverages,” tour staff said.

“Pedal along scenic TART bike trails, paddle through West Grand Traverse Bay or the iconic Boardman River, and visit some of Traverse City’s local watering holes all in one unforgettable outing. With fresh takes on the classic Kayak, Bike & Brew tour and alternative routes showcasing even more of the city’s stunning landscapes, there’s something for everyone.”

Here’s a rundown of all four tours being offered for the 2025 season:

The most popular tour is the The Bay Kayak, Bike & Brew: It includes a pedal to the waterfront Clinch Park, a paddle across West Bay to The Delamar hotel’s patio, where you can soak up some big bay views while enjoying a beverage. Then it’s back in the kayak before hopping on a bike to enjoy a stretch of the TART bike trail, with a couple brewery stops along the way.

“Whether you’re a beer connoisseur or just looking to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, this tour offers the best of both worlds,“ staff said. ”Don’t miss out on this unique and active way to discover Traverse City’s scenic beauty and vibrant beverage scene.”

KaBrew’s original tour is the River/Lake Kayak, Bike & Brew: This tour also starts with a bike ride and makes a first stop at the pinball-and-brew haven of Right Brain Brewery. That’s followed by a visit to The Filling Station, then hop into a kayak for a paddle on Boardman Lake and the Boardman River, where more stops await.

“Perfect for outdoor lovers, beer buffs and anyone craving a fresh way to explore the city, this tour is the ultimate mix of adventure and relaxation.”

Distillery Biking Tour: This three-hour guided tour is a new addition. It combines biking with tasting opportunities at some of Traverse City’s top craft distilling spots. “Along the way, you’ll make stops at renowned local distilleries, each offering a unique selection of handcrafted spirits. Whether you’re into smooth whiskeys, bold gins or refreshing cocktails, there’s something for every palate.”

Self-Guided Biking Tour: Want to take control of your own Traverse City adventure? This one is for you. Here’s how it works, according to the tour staff:

  • Arrive at Kayak, Bike & Brew and pick out your bike.
  • Receive a custom brewery map with suggested stops and scenic routes.
  • Enjoy a 3-hour bike rental, stopping at local breweries along the way.
  • Visit at least three of the recommended spots, get your map stamped, and return to The Handle Bar at KBB for a discounted cocktail to celebrate your ride!

“Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just love exploring Traverse City on two wheels, this tour is the perfect way to sip, cycle and soak in the local scene at your own pace.”
