Travel Guides star Jono Fren and wife Dani share sweet glimpse into family life with a long-weekend surprise

Fans know Jono Fren and his family for their hilarious antics on Travel Guides.

Outside the hit travel show, Jono spends most of his time with someone you won’t see on cameras – his wife Dani.

Taking to Instagram, Jono shared a glimpse into their own travel adventures, as they packed their bags for a heart-warming weekend away.

The pair, who last week celebrated their four-year wedding anniversary, hit the road to country town Bingara, New South Wales, about five hours from the Fren family’s hometown of Newcastle.

Jono and wife Dani looked rugged up and happy as ever.

“Long weekend well spent in Bingara and Warialda with family,” Jono captioned the travel snaps.

But you won’t see Jono’s iconic family in the photos (dad Mark, mum Cathy and sister Victoria).

The star was visiting his wife’s side of the family, which included catching up with his in-laws and their little niece and nephew.

In the photos, Jono and wife Dani were seen posing with family, patting horses and in a sweet surprise, they met the locals behind the community Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

”It was great to meet some of the locals over the weekend too!” Jono continued.

And just because Jono’s family wasn’t there, doesn’t mean they weren’t following their adventures.

“So glad you had a great time xxxx,” his dad Mark commented.

Jono and wife Dani celebrated their four-year wedding anniversary last week.

To celebrate the milestone, Jono shared a video of their wedding day including the moment he read his vows and revealed the exact moment he knew Dani was ‘the one’.

Jono shared that moment came when he was away on a Travel Guides trip and he and Dani had only been dating for four months.

“Our family dog Romeo was staying at a pet motel and had run out of medication and was feeling homesick,” Jono explained.

“[Dani] decided to pick him up from the pet motel early and took him home with you to your family for an even better holiday.

“So when I knew you were something special, in the wise words of Beyoncé I decided I liked it and put a ring on it.”

Jono also penned a heartfelt message to Dani online in honour of the special occassion.

“Happy 4th Wedding Anniversary to my beautiful wife @dani.fren21, I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since we said a big YES to forever together. Time really flies when you are having fun,” he began.

Jono continued by thanking Dani for “making life the greatest adventure”.

”Every day with you is nothing but fun and you make any tough day so much easier to get through. It is such a privilege to be your husband and I am grateful every day to call you my wife. I can’t wait to see what the rest of our life has in store for us. I love you.”

Dani returned the favour, writing a sweet message of her own on Instagram.

“4 years married today! 🤍 Countless laughs and endless adventures. You are the most wonderful, thoughtful and kind-hearted husband.”

“I love doing life with you and I am so proud of all we have achieved together. 4 years down & forever to go!”

Fans of Travel Guides met Jono, his parents Mark and Cathy and sister Victoria when they first joined the show in its debut season in 2017.

In 2025, the Fren family have already travelled to Spain, Portugal, New York City, New Zealand and Switzerland – with more trips to come!
